This week has been all about prep work and making sure the foundation is rock solid. Now that all the 3D-printed parts are ready, I’ve spent hours dry-fitting, sanding, and modifying each piece to achieve a flawless fit.

One of the biggest modifications was on the main hull. The original model had two prominent embossed logos on the sides, which didn't fit the vibe I'm going for. I completely sanded them down to create a perfectly flat surface, opening up a clean slate for custom logos later on.

As of today, everything has been sanded and primed! There are just a few minor surface imperfections left to clean up, and then I’ll be ready to dive into the heavy cyberpunk modifications and start pushing some paint.

Here it is! This is the ship I’ve chosen to customize and transform into a unique crossover, blending the Star Wars universe with a heavy Cyberpunk aesthetic. I'm starting right now with the first batch of 3D printing files. Wish me luck!

Overcoming Resin Shrinkage:

Off to a busy start! I’ve just printed the first few pieces, but as every modeler knows, the first layer is rarely a smooth ride.

One of the most critical structural parts warped due to poor orientation in the slicer—resin shrinkage caused a flat surface to bend significantly. To fix this, I re-oriented the file and ran a second print. While it’s still not 100% perfect, you can clearly see the improvement in the corners compared to the first attempt.

It's not a major issue and it's completely fixable, but it does slow down the timeline a bit. Time to tweak the settings, clean the parts, and keep moving forward!
