Another update: the body was successfully clear-coated, carefully sanded and polished. Now it shines.

I'm almost done! Only 3 more days until the final reveal. 😄

Honestly, I really wish I had more time. Three weeks was definitely not enough for painting and everything I originally wanted to do and all the ideas I had planned for the final piece.
I had to cut a few things here and there and use some faster methods to make sure I could finish on time.

But considering I only had three weeks for painting, I'm happy with what I've achieved and I did my best to make the final piece as close as possible to my original concept. : )

Now I just need to finish the remaining parts, and hopefully I'll have one full day left to go over everything and do some final polishing. If I don't have time for every final detail... well, I'll polish it properly after the competition haha. 😂

And to everyone else who is also in the final stretch: good luck! We're almost there! I know the last few days can be stressful, but just keep going and do the best you can with the time you have. At the end of the day, we all started with an idea and managed to bring something into the real world, and that's already something to be proud of. ❤️

Final one before final submission and it's nearly there now.

Lost of detail items added and the body is on so just need to sort out the wings and take final shots.

Getting closer to the deadline, and I've got many updates to share, the final submission is almost here. And here is my best, canonically accurate backdrop for the diorama.

Hello and thank you for checking out my progress post!  Today is a good day, all of my pieces printed successfully!

Some background on this, I have two 3D printers, which really sped things along. My first printer has a 15"x15" bed, which is what enables me to print a base for such a large model in one piece. The second printer is a more standard size but prints very very quickly, so that was great for printing the set pieces. Originally I was also going to use my resin printer for the fire, printing in a clear resin with an orange tint to give a very nice fire effect. But I guess I went a little too crazy on the 3rd fire piece as it was way too large for that printer. I instead printed it in clear PLA and painted with several layers of clear reds and oranges. 

While all of that was printing I also reassembled the model since it was still in pieces from being printed, this only took about 2 hours which is funny to remember how long the first assembly took comparatively.

Once the prints were all done I gave things a quick paint job to give more depth and make things the color I wanted. The fire took the longest here as there was a lot of it, but overall this didn't take too terribly long.

And with that, I think I'm just about done. Just need to take some pictures of the final product and then I'll make my final submission tomorrow or the day after depending on how that goes. Thank you for sticking it out with me so far, just a little longer!

Today was all about assembling the body, and the chassis is now completely finished.

Only the electronics are left before the final assembly.
