Update #14 – Adding Glow ✨
Hello friends and community!
This week, it was all about adding the glow effects to Cyclops and bringing the lighting on the suit and surrounding areas together.
For this, I used AK Interactive Inks – White and Orange with my Creos PS-771. I started by laying down a very thin white base on the areas I wanted the glow to affect. This gives me a bright foundation for the orange and allows me to control the intensity much more precisely. I then carefully built up the orange glow by lightly spraying the orange ink over the white areas and gradually extending it into the surrounding surfaces.
At first, I was considering using a fluorescent color for this effect. In the end, however, I decided against it. The idea is that these areas are being illuminated by the visor rather than glowing themselves. This distinction was important to me because I wanted the visor to remain the strongest and most intense light source on the entire figure. This also helps create a clear visual separation between the actual glowing visor and the reflected light around it.
I approached this step very carefully because this is one of those effects where it is incredibly easy to go too far. Once you have sprayed a strong glow onto a finished surface, correcting it without affecting the underlying paintwork can become quite difficult. So I built it up slowly, layer by layer, constantly checking the intensity and making sure the effect remained subtle.
I’m really happy with how the glow fits into the overall atmosphere of the piece. It adds that extra bit of life to the figure while still keeping the dark and desaturated mood that I’ve been aiming for from the beginning.
Now it’s time for the final assembly! After that, we’re getting very close to the finish line—and then it’s finally time for the final glamour shots. 📸
That’s it for this week’s update!
I’ll see you all next week, and as always, if you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments.
Peace out!

That glow really makes the whole thing come alive! Love that you kept it subtle instead of going full radioactive Cyclops. 😂 The reflection from the visor looks awesome, mate!
