Project Summary

I have created my own Kitbash Randomizer by listing common categories generalized from mechas from the Gundam franchise. I will be using this tool to create a specific mecha based on the generated attributes. The mecha will then be placed in a diorama for the final presentation.

Capsule secured!

Finished the batpod and test fitted it with my Figure Rise pilot. The ratio is perfect and the eggshell canopy fits the batpod controls.

The next step is to enclose the pilot thru scratchbuild and attach the TurnX's lower body with the Cavalier top.

Blockers encountered!!

I'm having trouble with the core of the kit...

Since i want to place a 1/12 pilot inside, i bought a few acrylic eggs to serve as the main capsule to contain the cockpit.

The only problem, they all came cracked! Looks like i have to improvise...

Anyways.. I've aquired a batpod to serve as the internal controls for the cockpit. Next week's gonna be exciting!

W5 - Positioning the Pilot

Alright. We're done with the MG TurnX legs. We're also done with the FRS. It's time to build the core block.

Overall Progress:

✅️ Backward knees

✅️ Rounded head

☑️ Big and bulky torso

This part was tricky. We used the HG Cavalier Aifrid to serve as the top armor or the head and he wings as well.

Judging from the initial size comparison, the pilot size fit our plan perfectly. The only problem now is the actual torso itself.

NEXT CHALLENGE:

We have to look for a way to attach this top part with our legs but the pilot should still be able to climb up and drive the Mecha.

W4 - Looking at the Large Legs

We've already finished the mechanic, now we're starting to build the main mecha from the bottom up!

Judging from the size of these TurnX legs, I'm already visualizing a towering mecha! It might not fit the basement diorama that I've imagined.

Let's see after we connect these reverse jointed legs into the waist and abdomen.

W2 & W3 - Presentation Planning

I have my mecha figured out by now since I will be following the selected attributes by my Kitbash Randomizer. But for the overall look of the entry, I am not fiunished yet, I spent my time and used up all my remaining braincells for the past weeks and came up with this idea:

1. The "mechanic" is repairing or painting the Mecha

2. The mecha is located at an underground laboratory or workshop

3. The workshop feels like a personal workshop with tools hanging on the wall and laying on the ground.

W1 - Polishing the Plan

Since I have been forced to create a mecha with these attributes:

HEAD - Rounded or Dome

BODY and BACKPACK - Big and Bulky

ARMS - Armored

HANDS and WEAPONS - Gatling Guns

LEGS and FEET, Backward Knees (Digitigrade)

LOOK and FEEL - LED Modification

I have narrowed down the list of variants that i will be creating for each of the major part of my machine. The next part is to synergize these parts in order for them to meld with each other.

I'm already getting excited and I'm looking forward to the next update! It's all about sketching and finding the right proportions.

🤔 VISION 🤔

For the build’s vision, I am borrowing the concept by a creator named Bill (a.k.a Bill Making Stuff). He generated a system called the Junkbot Generator to generate a specification for an original robot design. This system is widely used by creators to participate in the “Big Bot Bash”, an online collaboration for builders to showcase their creativity by building robots using their own original styles but following the attributes assigned to them randomly by the Junkbot Generator. They upload videos of their work on youtube to show the process and finished work.

💪 PERSONAL TOUCH 🦾

For my adaptation of this concept, I have created my own Kitbash Randomizer since my original hobby is Gundam Plastic Model Kits or Gunpla. I have listed common categories generalized from mechas from the franchise. I will be using this randomizer to force me to create a specific mecha based on the attributes it will generate.

⚠️ Kitbash randomizer results are in! ⚠️

HEAD - Rounded or Dome

BODY and BACKPACK - Big and Bulky

ARMS - Armored

HANDS and WEAPONS - Gatling Guns

LEGS and FEET, Backward Knees (Digitigrade)

LOOK and FEEL - LED Modification

Given that I'm stuck with these attributes, I've picked up some initial backlogs that could provide parts for my build. The next step is to roughly draft a story that would fit the MS design. I want to incorporate a bit of human factor so I will also be using this FRS Suletta Mercury i have lying around as the mecha's pilot.

Let's see what we could come up with in the next few weeks!

Biography

Hello, I’m Dan (a.k.a Build Your Backlogs) from the Philippines. My primary objective of joining the GWCC is to reduce my backlog by using kits from my pile of shame (or pile of potential). The secondary objective is to expand my skillset as a builder, since GBWC was cancelled for 2026, I’ve been joining a lot of local competitions this year, and so I thought, why not join an online contest?
