I finally decided to assemble my kit, even though it’s a ßeta version. It allows me to do a dry run—meaning I can verify that the glued joints work (checking that the alignment/assembly pin systems are correct), the suspension functions properly, the painting process is well-planned, and I have enough screws (yes, I model every single screw and nut separately, so assembly takes a long time 😯). I can also check that parts are oriented correctly (though I say that, I actually installed the front hub carriers backwards, shifting the steering link mounts to the rear) and that the parts are the right size (I don't know how I managed it, but the caliper mounting tabs are too short!)... Anyway, it also lets me see the kit actually taking shape (I’ll end up with two kits! Can't wait for the release candidate version😎). I really like that last shot of the engine, too—it looks like a condor. I hope you like it! 🙏

A quick dry fit—but in color—using markers (Posca and Molotow).
Everything seems to fit well, with a few exceptions (notably the intake trumpets on the injection side).
Do you like it?

Here is the printed build plate, right after washing.

Hi, the printability validation proof is on its way—we just have to wait!

Next, I had to interpret the various photos to reconstruct the routing of the oil and water lines and model the ribbing visible on the engines.
I haven't focused on the finest details yet, because I first need to verify what level of precision is actually printable at the target scale; furthermore, this twin-turbo race configuration with an intercooler involves a multitude of ancillary components—not to mention the all-wheel-drive system—all of which consist of parts that are equally complex to model!
I hope you like it, see you soon.

This week is all about modeling.
After all, the engine isn't going to build itself!
Some in-depth research led me to identify the base engine: the Suzuki V6 from the Grand Vitara FT—the H25A.
I found photos covering pretty much every useful angle and pored over spare parts catalogs, specifically looking at the various gaskets (cylinder head, pumps, exhaust, intake, etc.).
By vectorizing the gasket outlines and using a bit of careful observation, I’m managing to reconstruct the structure of the cylinder block.

It was a busy week (outside of the contest), but I still managed to find a little time to paint.
Here’s a quick look at what I painted.
Of course, that wasn't all I did, but it was the only part I filmed!
