Project Summary

The aim is to reproduce the vehicle of Nobuhiro Tajima, who was the first to break the 10-minute barrier in the Pikes Peak cloud race in 2011. The project won't be entirely from scratch. It starts with a Wavefront OBJ model, downloaded in 2020 from GameModels (I'm not sure if the site still exists, and I don't know who published it). It seems this model is from Gran Turismo 6 (but I have no more proof than a direct comparison with the game, for which I owned a license). This model is therefore far from complete, as it's intended solely for use within the game. However, the bodywork is quite accurate, so it will be used as a starting point, and also to validate the overall proportions of a vehicle for which it's very difficult to find plans and measurements. The design will then consist of separating the body parts to recreate the opening panels (doors, hoods, etc.), reconstructing the complete tubular chassis (based on numerous photographs found online), and above all, modeling all the mechanical parts (again, using photographs). Finally, there will be a painting and decoration phase, and a final assembly phase of the presentation model. I hope you enjoy this project, and I'll try to post regular updates on the WIP. A quick dry fit—but in color—using markers (Posca and Molotow).

Everything seems to fit well, with a few exceptions (notably the intake trumpets on the injection side).
