After more than 2 months of work, the diorama is finally finished. One of my motivations to build models is history. Every model tells a story.
This one's story is about a soviet tankers who were defending their position for few days waiting for help. When it turned out that help would never come, they abandoned their tank. Later, it was found by Germans advancing towards the Leningrad.
This build was for me a challenge. I tried new techniques, experimented to create this diorama. The way to the finish was a bit complicated but I made it.
In the end, I would like to thank the Gaahleri Team, the other entrants, the modellers, the voters, my family and everyone else who supported me throughout this unique competition.

Today, I added some more vegetation to the diorama. Paper plants were leftovers from various sets, mainly from Green Stuff World. Moss was made from sprinkled Fine Turf glued with diluted PVA glue. I did it to add more natural and realistic variation. This progress was made in no more than 1 hour.
Also, during this week I made few resin pours. The first, unsuccessful attempt resulted in the garage floor being flooded. The second one was better, because I masked it better but I spend whole day on cleaning and sanding it. The second update will be the final one.

THAT'S A REUPLOADED VERSION OF THE POST FROM LAST WEEK
Sorry for the bad quality for the photos, that's because I don't have proper photographing studio. When I was taking those photos it was extremely.

Not much to explain, I did last week. If someone has questions, please ask in comments.
I'll answer some of the basic ones.
The diorama was painted with GHAD-39 airbrush using vallejo and AK 3rd fen acrylics. I painted the grass first, then ground. Everything was later covered with earth enameks highly diluted with white spirit. That took me about 3 hours to complete. Next update will be about moss and resin water.
Also, big thanks to GWCC team for moving the deadline ❤️. Without that I wouldn't finish my project.

I'm on vacation this week, so I will post photos from my older project. This is Bedford QL from Tobruk. It was made from italeri and tamiya kit.

This is the last step before painting this diorama. I added some rocks, dirt grass and dried plants. Ones sticking from the bottom of a swamp will simulate water reeds. More of them are going to be added after painting. On the last photo you can see my very "professional" photographing setup.

Just some references for painting and finishing the diorama I'm making for my KV project.

I spent a few last days on painting the figure for a diorama with KV-1.
First, I sprayed the figure black and then white from the top. To create first layer I use glazes. To make a glaze you need to thin a water based acrylic paint with water to wash consistency. Then I painted the figure with it using several thin coats. Doing that, make sure there is very little paint on the brush.
After that I emphasised shadows. I used very dark paint mixed with base color and thinned like a glaze with water and paint retarder (sometimes with a matt varnish, it also works). Then, I applied it with fine brush on folds and shadows of the figure. The same method was used on highlights, but with light paint. Paint retarder makes blending easier so it looks more realistic. To paint skin tones I use medium skin color glaze and then use a brown wash to bring out details. Next, the skin tone was lightened with highlights with light skin tone glaze. I painted eyes the easiest method, with toothpick.
This whole progress was made in about 9-10 hours. What do you think about the finish and my painting approach?

This week I'm on my summer holidays trip, so I'm not making any progress in this project. Instead, I will share with you some photographs of model details.

As requested, I'm posting more shots of my KV-1. This is not the finished build, just some more better photos of the model. Diorama is still in progress. I will post progress in building it next week.
