Almodelling

Before going any further with the cockpit of my podracer, I need an accurate reference for the pilot’s size, anatomy and seated position, so the vehicle can be designed around him. I therefore decided to dedicate this week to designing the characters and scenes that will bring the diorama to life.

Quick reminder: as part of the rules I set for this project, 3D printing is limited to characters and scenic elements. The podracer itself will remain entirely scratchbuilt, so I will be returning to it very soon.

I always try to include several small stories within my dioramas, and this one will follow the same pattern. At the centre, the pilot will be discussing the pod with his chief mechanic and a pit droid, while three smaller scenes will show other droids interacting with the local wildlife.

The pilot and mechanic belong to a species created for the project: the Vekri, a small reptilian species from the Outer Rim, inspired by the stature of the Aleena and the appearance of the Trandoshans.
The wildlife models were created by Foe_Figures.
Unfortunately, I can no longer find the original designer of the pit droid model. If you recognise the sculpt, please let me know so I can credit its creator properly.

Now that the scenes have been blocked out in Blender, I can begin printing the assets before returning to the scratchbuilt cockpit and diorama base.
