This week’s progress focused on the general surface preparation of the RGZ-91 Re-GZ Repair II leg units, establishing a clean foundation before committing to the final detailing phase. Mold lines, seam imperfections, and uneven surfaces were carefully removed through progressive sanding to ensure a consistent finish for future scribing and painting. Preparing the surface beforehand is a critical step, as it allows new panel lines and mechanical details to remain crisp, symmetrical, and well-defined throughout the build. Light, repeated scribing passes followed by cleanup sanding help produce cleaner panel lines while minimizing slips or raised plastic burrs.
With the surfaces refined, the next objective was determining which details would best complement the Repair II concept. Rather than overcrowding the armor, the leg units will feature purposeful mechanical enhancements that reinforce the mobile suit’s field-repair identity. Planned modifications include segmented armor panel lines to break up large flat surfaces, maintenance access hatches for servicing the actuators, reinforced knee and calf armor separation, recessed mechanical vents, and subtle notches that create the illusion of layered armor plating. Additional plastic details such as small maintenance plates, bolt accents, and structural reinforcement strips will further enhance the industrial, combat-ready appearance while maintaining the Re-GZ’s recognizable silhouette.

RGZ-91 Re-GZ Repair II: Support Unit Concept
The MSR-00100CR Hyaku Shiki Crash serves as the dedicated support unit for my RGZ-91 Re-GZ Repair II, forming a two-machine team designed around battlefield versatility and tactical coordination.
While the Re-GZ Repair II is built as the primary front-line assault mobile suit, the Hyaku Shiki Crash operates as its force multiplier. Its mission is to provide long-range covering fire, suppress enemy positions, intercept incoming threats, and create openings that allow the Re-GZ Repair II to advance or reposition safely. Rather than competing for the spotlight, the Hyaku Shiki Crash ensures the lead unit can maximize its combat potential throughout extended engagements.
The concept centers on a post-conflict repair and modernization program, where the Re-GZ has been rebuilt into a more capable custom machine while being paired with a highly mobile support platform. Inspired by real-world combined-arms doctrine, the duo emphasizes teamwork over individual performance—one unit spearheading the assault while the other controls the battlefield through precision support, reconnaissance, and tactical fire support.
Together, the RGZ-91 Re-GZ Repair II and MSR-00100CR Hyaku Shiki Crash represent a balanced combat team where coordination, adaptability, and mission efficiency take priority over raw firepower alone, creating a cohesive narrative that reflects both engineering evolution and battlefield strategy.

This week’s progress focused on refining the overall concept and preparing the necessary materials for the next phase of customization.
One of the major tasks was selecting the final color direction for the project. After reviewing several options, I explored multiple shades from Gaahleri’s Kaleido ColorWorks lineup to find a color scheme that best complements the Re-GZ Repair II’s upgraded appearance and mechanical aesthetic.
On the customization side, additional scribe details were added to the front skirt armor to improve surface complexity and enhance the kit’s visual depth. The new panel lines help reinforce the repair and modernization theme of the project while maintaining the original Re-GZ design language.
To support the upcoming detailing work, several customization materials were also restocked:
• 2.0mm Square Beam from Tamiya
• 1.0mm Copper Rod from Hobby Mio
• Generic Plastic Pipes for mechanical detailing and scratch-built accents
With the essential supplies now on hand, the next stage will focus on further armor detailing, structural enhancements, and integrating additional mechanical elements throughout the kit.
Stay tuned for more updates as the RGZ-91 Re-GZ Repair II continues to take shape!

Picking up where I left off last week, I continued the remodeling and detailing work on the RGZ-91 Re-GZ, focusing primarily on enhancing the body unit and head unit with additional panel line details, custom scribing, and surface refinements. The goal was to create a more mechanically complex and realistic appearance while maintaining the original design language of the mobile suit. Process Breakdown 1. Review and Planning Examined the modifications completed during the previous work session. Identified areas on the torso, waist, shoulders, and head that appeared too plain or lacked visual separation. Sketched new panel line concepts to ensure symmetry and consistency. 2. Surface Preparation Cleaned all parts to remove dust, oils, and sanding residue. Lightly sanded selected surfaces to create a smooth working area for scribing. Marked guide lines using masking tape and pencil references. 3. Body Unit Custom Scribing Added new panel lines to the chest armor to increase mechanical depth. Created segmented armor panels on the front skirt and side skirt sections. Scribed maintenance hatch details on the torso and backpack connection areas. Introduced additional line separation around the shoulder armor for improved visual layering. Enhanced vent areas with deeper recessed lines and sharper borders. Added small access-panel details and service markings on the waist assembly. 4. Body Unit Detail Enhancement Refined existing kit panel lines to improve sharpness and consistency. Added small notch details and mechanical cut-ins along armor edges. Deepened selected grooves to improve visibility after painting and panel lining. Checked alignment from multiple angles to maintain a balanced appearance. 5. Head Unit Custom Scribing Redesigned several panel line layouts on the helmet exterior. Added additional separation lines around the forehead armor. Enhanced cheek armor details with subtle mechanical panel divisions. Scribed maintenance access panels near the side sensor housings. Added fine line accents around the rear helmet sections to improve complexity. 6. Head Unit Detail Refinement Sharpened existing mold details around the face and visor areas. Improved edge definition on helmet armor transitions. Added small recessed details to emphasize scale and realism. Carefully balanced new details to avoid overcrowding the compact head design. 7. Cleanup and Quality Inspection Removed all scribing debris using a soft brush and compressed air. Inspected panel lines under direct lighting to identify inconsistencies. Corrected uneven depths and repaired minor slips where necessary. Performed final passes to ensure clean, crisp line work. 8. Final Evaluation Compared the modified parts against the original kit components. Verified that all new details complemented the Re-GZ's aesthetic. Confirmed readiness for the next stage, including primer application, surface checking, and additional detailing if required.

Refining the overall color scheme direction of the project. The main objective is to create a design that emphasizes the unit’s battle-worn repaired appearance while maintaining a cohesive and visually striking identity. Different color variations and tonal combinations were explored to achieve the right balance between realism, contrast, and mechanical depth. Special attention was given to how the colors interact with the added surface modifications, panel detailing, and repair-inspired elements throughout the build. The selected direction aims to deliver a more rugged and heavily maintained aesthetic while still preserving the recognizable Re-GZ silhouette. Visual planning for future weathering, paint layering, and detailing was also considered during this phase to ensure consistency in the final presentation. Every adjustment made at this stage helps strengthen the overall storytelling and personality of the RGZ-91 Re-GZ “Repair Type.” More updates coming soon as the project!

The main customization centers on the beam rifle. The standard rifle is modified with a Zeon-style mono-eye targeting scope mounted along the upper receiver, inspired by late Universal Century mobile suit weapon systems. The added scope gives the weapon a more aggressive and tactical appearance while blending surprisingly well with the Re-GZ’s angular profile. Small armor plates and exposed cable detailing around the scope mount help sell the hybrid Federation–Zeon engineering aesthetic, making the rifle look like a field-modified experimental weapon recovered from Neo Zeon technology
