Here we are, my final submission for the GWCC.
After months of work, my Wizard’s Office, inspired by Dumbledore’s office, is finally complete.
The project started with an old hexagonal glass display cabinet and a simple idea: rather than building a miniature inside a box, I wanted to transform the cabinet itself into a small magical world.
That unusual shape became both the starting point and one of the main challenges of the build. Everything had to be designed around it: the architecture, the tall libraries, the central columns, the balcony, and finally the office itself, sitting at the heart of the scene. From there, the project gradually became an accumulation of tiny builds within the build. The desk and furniture, hundreds of books, astronomical instruments, armillary spheres, telescope, chandelier, candles, scrolls, Fawkes, the Sorting Hat, Gryffindor’s sword and countless other little objects were designed, printed, built, modified or painted specifically for the scene.
One of my main goals was to make the office feel lived in rather than simply filled with recognizable objects. I wanted your eye to travel through the cabinet and keep discovering something new: an object hidden on a shelf, a book on the desk, a small light in a corner or another detail deeper inside the room.
Lighting was also a major part of the project, and another first for me. Once everything started glowing inside the cabinet, it completely changed the atmosphere and was probably the moment when all those individual pieces finally started feeling like a single place.
Sure, there are things I would approach differently now and plenty of lessons learned along this journey, but I am really proud of how this build turned out. It pushed me through architecture, miniature furniture, painting, lighting, composition and an unreasonable amount of tiny books 😅.
So here it is, finally complete.
Wizard’s Office.
Thank you to everyone who followed the build throughout the GWCC, and for all the encouragement and feedback along the way.
Good luck to everyone with their final submissions, and see you on the next build!

The Final Chapter — Dumbledore’s Office
And here we are… the final chapter before the reveal.
After months of work, my Dumbledore-inspired office is finally complete.
This project started with an old hexagonal glass display cabinet and a simple idea: instead of building a miniature inside a box, why not turn the cabinet itself into a tiny magical world?
From there, everything slowly grew.
The architecture, the library, the staircase and balcony, the furniture… and then all those tiny objects that gradually filled the room and gave it a story of its own.
Books, astronomical instruments, armillary spheres, the chandelier, candles, scrolls and countless little details — all designed, built, printed or painted specifically for this project.
And then came the lighting.
That was probably the moment when it stopped feeling like a collection of miniature pieces and finally started feeling like a place.
Throughout the GWCC, I've shared this build chapter by chapter, from the first structural elements to the smallest accessories. And now, for the first time, everything is finally assembled behind the glass.
There are imperfections, things I would approach differently today, and plenty of lessons learned along the way.
But that's also part of why I love building these things.
So this is the end of the build…
See you on the other side.
And good luck to everyone for the GWCC!

GWCC – Work in Progress
Building a miniature library is not only about creating what can be seen — it’s also about finding ways to hide everything that makes the scene work.
One of my latest steps was completing the ceiling structure designed to accommodate the chandelier, together with a discreet removable cover and battery access.
I wanted the technical elements to remain accessible without compromising the architecture and atmosphere of the room.
The project is still in progress. The plexiglass panels still need to be cut and fitted, the electronics and lighting need to be installed, and a few finishing details remain.
Still a little way to go, but the library is slowly coming to life. 📚✨

This time, I tackled the ceiling of the room, designed to house the chandelier.
The goal was to make it both visually convincing and fully functional. I therefore worked on:
• the overall shape and sculpted details
• the rough, aged texture
• the central housing for the chandelier
• a removable access panel for the batteries
• integrating the whole piece into the gaming board
The access panel is kept as discreet as possible, so it doesn't break the look of the scenery while still allowing easy access to the electronics. A lot of texture work, sculpting and painting went into this piece to give it that old, weathered feel.
That's one of the things I enjoy most: making the scenery look good while also making it actually work. More to come soon…

This week was all about some of the smaller details for Dumbledore’s office.
I finally started printing a few of the decorative pieces that will help bring the room to life, including two armillary spheres and, most importantly, the chandelier.
The chandelier was a slightly intimidating print. Between the tiny chains, the very thin structure and all those fragile details, I honestly wasn’t completely sure it would survive the printing and cleaning process in one piece… but it did!
With the prints cleaned up, I also started experimenting with the paintwork. I wanted the metal to feel old rather than simply “gold”, so I built it up with warm brass and bronze tones before adding darker washes and some subtle variation to bring out the sculpted details.
There is still some refinement to do, especially on the chandelier and the candles, but seeing these little objects painted already gives me a much better idea of how rich and cluttered the final office can become.
Slowly, one tiny magical object at a time, the room is starting to come alive.

This week was all about the little things.
With most of the larger elements of Dumbledore’s office now taking shape, I spent some time painting the smaller accessories that will eventually fill the room.
Books, bottles, scrolls, small objects and all those tiny details that might seem insignificant on their own, but together they are what will make the office feel lived-in rather than simply built.
It’s also one of my favourite stages of a diorama. Each new object adds another little layer to the scene, and slowly the empty shelves and furniture start becoming part of a place that feels as though it has its own history.
There is still quite a lot to paint — and even more to arrange once everything is ready — but seeing all these little pieces coming together is finally giving me a glimpse of how busy and magical the finished office could feel.
Another small step forward for the GWCC… one tiny object at a time.

The clock is ticking
This week, I continued working on one of the decorative elements for the room: the large grandfather clock.
I started with the raw resin print before applying the first brown tones to establish the wooden structure. The many carved details make the painting quite time-consuming, but they are also what will give the clock its character once the highlights, shadows and ageing effects are complete.
There is still plenty of work ahead, particularly on the wood grain, metallic details and final weathering, but the overall appearance is beginning to take shape.
Progress was a little slower this week, as I still have several elements to prepare for 3D printing and many more books to paint for the library. Nevertheless, every new object helps bring the room closer to the atmosphere I have in mind.
Little by little, this office is coming to life!

GWCC – Chapter 11
After several weeks spent filling the bookshelves, I wanted to take a short break and work on one of the objects that will immediately catch the eye when looking at the Headmaster's office.
This astronomical instrument is entirely scratchbuilt from simple materials. The globe was given a rough volcanic texture before being painted in dark stone tones and highlighted with fine golden veins. Around it, individually shaped brass rings create the familiar silhouette of an ancient armillary sphere.
One detail I particularly enjoyed adding was the small telescope attached to one of the rings. It transforms the piece from a simple decorative globe into an instrument that feels as though it has actually been used by generations of witches and wizards studying the night sky.
Projects like this remind me that a convincing miniature is not only about the furniture. It is these small handcrafted objects, each with their own story, that slowly bring the entire room to life.
Next stop: back to the workbench... there are still plenty of magical objects waiting to be built!

Chapter 10 – Filling the Library (Part 1)
The first section of the library is finally starting to come to life.
Rather than placing the same few books over and over, I wanted the shelves to feel like a real collection that had been built over decades. To achieve that, I first resin-printed several hundred individual books in a wide variety of sizes and designs.
This week was dedicated to painting the first batch. Each book was given its own combination of cover colours and spine details, with only a limited palette repeated throughout the collection. The goal wasn't to make every book unique, but to create enough variation that the repetition disappears once everything is placed on the shelves.
This is only the first of three batches needed to fill the two large bookcases, so there are still many more books waiting to be painted before I can finally start dressing the library itself.
As repetitive as this stage may seem, it's one of those small details that will make the room feel lived in once everything comes together.

Chapter 9 – Big-Picture View
For the first time, I can finally step back and take in the room as a whole.
Now that the bookshelf is in place, alongside the ladders, the balcony, and the back wall, the overall composition is starting to take shape. The individual elements are gradually coming together to form a cohesive space.
This stage is always one of my favorites. After spending weeks focusing on tiny details and isolated elements, seeing everything assembled allows me to check the proportions, balance, and atmosphere I’d had in mind from the very beginning.
There’s still a long way to go. The furniture, accessories, lighting, textures, and countless small details are still missing. But this first overview gives a glimpse of what Dumbledore’s office might look like once it’s finished.
Little by little, the vision is taking shape.
