A lot of masking!

As time flies I tried to continue with the masking and painting of the fuselage.

I decided to do this in multiple steps: At first the easier front part with normal tapes, then the more complicated tail with drawn and cut masks.

Pic 1 The fuselage is primed white. The areas where are white stripes are painted white.

Pic 2 After masking I painted a self-mixed blue grey.

Pic 3 The light green towards the front was the next step.

Pic 4 I masked also primed and painted white gear legs and rudder.

Pic 5 The dark blue was applied to fuselage, rudder and legs in one session.

Pic 6 After masking (with thin tapes) and shading the positions of fuselage frames I painted the lower fuselage with different linen paints and the area of the side cockades white.

Pic 7 Here are the self drawn and plotted masks are applied to the fuselage. The red dot is already painted and covered.

Pic 8 The dark Oxford Blue is applied.

Pic 9 The result after removed masks - promising.

Pic 10 The opposite masks were applied on the blue and the Cadmium Yellow was the next layer, also on the front..

You want to see, how it looks like with all masks removed? Stay tuned for the next update! Maybe tomorrow ...

And those weren't the last masks.

Masking is so time consuming - but so satisfactory when you pull it off and the results are there.

@andreduplessis Yes! In this specific case I spend a lot of time to draw all the masks in Inkscape. In the end, the plotter finished the job much faster than it had taken me before.

You wouldn't use the decals anyway - I know you love masking 😂
