A colorful fuselage
They must have come up with this complicated color scheme over 100 years ago just to annoy me today!
Maybe you've been curious to see my outcome, so here it is.
Pic 1 The left side without masks.
Pic 2 The right side. The small gaps and overpaints are not a problem. You will see later.
Pic 3 Here the next layer of masks, on a transfer foil, you see the glue side. Inkscape is a powerful vector drawing program to make tasks like this very easy.
Pic 4 All masks applied - prepared for the next paint NATO Black.
Pic 5 The result on the left side after removing the masks and adding the black stripes also on the front. Here I decided to use the cut decal stripes as on the wings.
Pic 6 The left side. By the way, all photos of the original show only the left side.
Pic 7 The top of the fuselage.
Pic 8 And a view from below. You can still make out the frames through the covering. Some black lines are also here. The painting on the front is my interpretation of the photos. This area is hardly visible behind the cowling.
After I painted the wings, I was a little skeptical at first about my choice of colors, but now I'm completely satisfied with them.

@gekoch It was not French🤣🤣 It was done by the British company Ruston & Proctor to celebrate the 1000th plane. And no, it was not used at the front.

Doug Mulle57 days agoLOL Just to annoy you! And that's why I never built the French tanks! I guess the tankers were all artists before the war LMAO

@dougmulle See answer above. The boss was an Egyptologist and designed this motif. I posted about the background in an earlier update.

@cristiancarlone Thank you! To mask it was the only way to realize this livre.

@bughunter, I imagined that. Did you use masking tape? Masking putty?

@cristiancarlone Please see also the previous update. The front part with straight lines was done with tape (and the black line here are airbrushed decal paper cut in stripes). The more complicated shapes are designed with the vector drawing program Inkscape and cut by a electronic plotter (see my tools) on A4 masking sheets, comparable to Tamiya tape.

@bughunter, thanks a lot! I’ll check your earlier updates too. I’ve been missing checking posts of other creators lately (too busy at work, unfortunately…)

@cristiancarlone You are welcome! It needs some time to follow all the nice projects here and I should work on mine ...
