Project Summary

Growing up in the late '90s and early 2000s, I was fortunate enough to experience what felt like the golden age of anime. My Mount Rushmore was Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Naruto. Back then, things were different. We didn't have smartphones, streaming services, or instant access to every episode. If you wanted to know what happened next, you had to wait patiently for the next week. That anticipation made every episode feel special.

Out of all those incredible shows, Dragon Ball Z has always held a special place in my heart. It wasn't just a cartoon to me, it was a source of inspiration. As a kid, it sparked my imagination, fueled my creativity, and taught me lessons about perseverance, friendship, and pushing beyond my limits. The characters, the stories, and the unforgettable moments left a lasting impact on me that has stayed with me throughout my life.

Even now, as an adult, my connection to Dragon Ball remains as strong as ever. Collecting cards, figures, and other memorabilia isn't just about owning pieces of a franchise I love; it's about holding on to the memories and emotions that shaped my childhood. Every item reminds me of a simpler time, when racing home to catch the next episode was the highlight of my day. For that reason, Dragon Ball Z will always be more than just an anime to me, it will always be a part of who I am.

I'm presenting a gogeta as he is one of my favorite characters and I will paint the model using the 2d cel shading technique.

2D cel shading is a painting style that makes a 3D object look like it came straight out of a 2D cartoon, anime, or comic book. Instead of using smooth blends and gradual transitions between light and shadow, cel shading uses: Flat colors Sharp, defined shadows High contrast Minimal blending

Primed Gogeta

Started with a flat white primer. When I work on 2d anime style painting I like my color to really pop. White works great to allow the initial coat to be saturated without applying to many layers which gives me a great starting point to complete this style.
