Here's my weekly post! I'm pretty much done at this point. There are a few small things I need to touch up, and I need to get my submission photos taken.

Belle is from a game called Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ). In ZZZ, you collect characters through the "signal search" feature, which previews the rarity of the characters you get by showing glowing "B", "A", and "S" on a stack of TVs. I thought it would be cool to emulate this with the stack of TVs that Belle is standing on.
Despite some small issues, I'm really happy with how this turned out. I created some custom stencils using in-game assets. This was all done with my airbrush using Liquitex inks, Golden high-flow acrylics, and Kaleido paints.
In other news, I bought a set of Mindwork's heavy body acrylics and have been experimenting with them on the base pieces. So far, I'm really enjoying using them. Hopefully, they don't clash with the cell-shaded style I'm using for Belle and Eos, but it's not uncommon to see painted backgrounds in anime.
I also finished her shoes and repainted parts of her skirt.
This week will be more base painting and just general polishing. I'm getting close!

Belle stands on a stack of TVs as the base for my model. I thought it would be cool to add an LED backlight to them and show the "S", "A", and "B" graphics from the ZZZ signal search sequence.
My plan seemed simple:
1) Print the TV stack with clear resin.
2) Print graphics from the game onto glossy photo paper, and glue them to the back of the screen.
3) Install small LEDs on the back of each TV.
This was my first time using Anycubic High Clear resin, and it required several attempts to get a somewhat successful print. It still has some nasty layer lines that would require cleaning.
However, holding the print in my hands made me realize that the keyholes for the objects on top of the TVs are huge and consume much of the internal space. In particular, the hole that supports Belle goes right through the middle of the top TV, blocking all of the light from my LED.
I've given up on this plan for now and have decided to simply paint the graphics onto the TV screens. If I have time after I finish painting, I might revisit this.
This distracted me from making much progress on painting this week. Hopefully, I'll have more to show next week!

Here's my progress for the week! I plan to finish her shoes and then spend some time polishing. With some luck, I'll start the base next weekend. I'm really looking forward to gluing her arms on because holding everything together with blu-tack has been an anxiety-provoking challenge.

Here's my progress for the week! I burned some time early in the week on some experiments that ended up not working out, so I'm a little bit behind where I was hoping to be. My goal for the upcoming week is to finish up Belle's jacket and skirt, then move on to her legs and shoes. I usually opt for GK-style eyes rather than sculpted eyes. Painting good anime eyes is really hard for me, but I think I've gradually gotten better. These ended up a little too big compared to her concept art reference, and I was considering redoing them, but I asked my family and a friend from the painting community, and they all really liked them, so I think that I'll likely keep them this way. What do you think? Are they too big and I should redo them, or should I keep them as they are?

Anime characters often have very iconic colors, and being able to replicate those colors can be really important when going for a screen-accurate cell-shaded look. I've been really excited about the Kaleido ColorLab color matching tools ever since I heard about them last year, and decided to use this project as an opportunity to try them out. I kicked things off by color-picking Belle's lit skin color from her official artwork, and... the best match the tool could come up with was using pure white? Apparently, it's really hard to replicate the color of pale anime girl skin. I appreciate that Gaahleri included skin tones in their most recent set, but looking at the color samples online, they seem a little too dark for what I'm looking for. I ended up trying to color match on my own, and I think I got it pretty close. The ColorLab tool worked much better for her hair color, recommending 4 parts hibiscus purple to 6 parts scotia blue. Gaahleri, if you see this, I'd like to request that your next paint set include the color "pale anime girl skin"!

Here's my entry for GWCC 2026. I'll be painting Belle and Eos from Zenless Zone Zero by Neko Figurines. I had printed this model earlier in the year and had been looking forward to painting it, so this was the perfect opportunity!
