The Onion Knight is on his Journey to his final fate, and so is my creative journey through this painting and modelling piece. A long journey that encouraged me to bring this beloved character to life; I poured months of practice, tests and countless small adjustments to perfect this piece. I can proudly say I enjoyed every minute and am very pleased with how it turned out.

I have mounted the Onion Knight on the diorama. It took me a few hours to get it right, as I needed to fill and sculpt the gaps between his feet and the ground/tree. I still have the last few paintings needed to do to repair some of the scratches and details; overall, I am very happy with how this turned out.

After base coating with airbrush, I start to painting textures, I found some great reference for this piece and have just finished first layer of texture. There are still a lot of highlight needs to be done, but I through it will be nice after I mount the Onion Knight on it so the highlight will be at the right place.

Mobius works perfectly for base coating the diarama. I had great experience with it's trigger give me great control. The air flow is also easy to adjust, it helps me with creating atmosphere for the diarama which you will see in the next post.

As I working on the back chain, I noticed the chain is slightly shifted to the right, I feel it is slightly unbalanced and lack of detail therefore I add a pocket as a patch.
On the original setting, Onion Knight has several pockets on his back armer. I understand I add it on the wrong place but I think this way suits this model better.

I had refined many details on the back of the miniature, the chain and leather are different to paint on this one as the sculpt didn't really show the texture in a clear way, so I have resculpt a bit, will show them in later posts. Hopefully I can finish the weapons on time so I can move on to the base before end of the month.

I've made some more progress on the back of the miniature, introducing much cooler tones to create stronger contrast and enrich the visual narrative. There's still some work to do balancing the colours so the overall hue feels more natural.

Take me a day to sketch the whole armer except the back of the miniature, I am planning to paint another colour tone on his back. After that, I Painted the armer for a few days, absolutely enjoyed it, very happy how it turns out so far.

I changed some of the sculpts I did last week, like the mushroom and some of the tree branches on the back. I spray the primer on the Onion Knight by using the Gaahleri SP airbrush. I plan to start painting next week, so if you are tired of seeing me posting the slow sculpts week by week, now the progress will be a lot faster.
