The Long Road Homed

The war is over, but its scars remain.

This diorama captures a quiet moment in the aftermath of conflict. The battlefield has fallen silent, replaced by an empty road stretching through a desolate landscape. At its center stands a weathered Zaku, worn down by time, combat, and countless miles traveled. Once a symbol of military power, it now serves as a reminder of the cost of war.

The setting draws inspiration from the vast, isolated roads of the American desert. Utility poles line the roadside, standing as remnants of a world that once thrived with everyday life. Their presence contrasts with the lone mobile suit, emphasizing how war leaves its mark not only on soldiers and machines, but also on the places people call home.

"The Long Road Home" is both a physical and symbolic journey. It represents the path taken after the fighting ends, the long return from the battlefield, where victory and defeat become less important than survival and the hope of finding peace. The mobile suit moves forward through a landscape shaped by conflict, carrying with it the memories of a war that may be over, but can never be completely forgotten.

This project explores themes of loss, endurance, and reconciliation, reminding us that while wars may end, their consequences often remain long after the final shot has been fired.
