Hello all, sorry for the prolonged silence. I had to move out of my apartment and get established at my new residence. Have not been able to work on my models but here is Gerwalk in its current state: almost ready for micron pen detailing and clear coating. I am certain I can get the adjustments taken care of in time for the contest deadline; I just need to hone in.

All inking and painting on the base is done now. Added some wires and hair ties for further mechanical detail.

Since my airbrush is broken, I am using dollar tree brushes to hand paint my models. After surfacing (which I still have a bit of to do) I use createx white paint thinner with a bit of 4021 reducer. this process requires several passes for an even coat, but it works. When I move on to the pastel colors I will use Chroma Air (which is produced here in Florida and is compatible with createx thinners).

After spending time assessing the diorama I have concluded that SD Guntank is too big for it. The landscape needs room to breathe. Therefore I am swapping Guntank with SD gerwalk. I have edited the details of my profile to reflect this change. If I have time I also want to include a mini sd gundam partner, but eliminate the picnic theme and simply the presentation.

I’m using a micron ink pen to finalize the texture work on the trunk. I did some tests with brush work and layered cardboard or even pinecones stamped with paint, but the pen work looks best.

Working in layers as delicately as I can from dark to light. I’m going for a petrified vegetal look for the base.

I have been building extra root details into the diorama base with Apoxy sculpt. It’s a two part clay compound that you mix and then sculpt an adhere during the work time. The working time is at its max adhesion within the first 20 minutes. It takes to the paper mache quite well.

Having integrated the old AGG kit into the bowl, I now begin extending and reinforcing the diorama’s surface. I am using clamps and e6000, which comes with a delay in dry time, but I don’t know where my glue gun is.

Today I selected and began my build. Since my sd guntank is my only unstarted kit, that’s what I’m going with. I got the majority of cementable parts assembled and began surfacing some other pieces that will just be snapped in.
