2nd Weekend Update!

I totally meant to get this posted yesterday but one of the cats got sick so my wife and I spent a good portion of the evening at the vets office.

My weeks progress was not as solid as I was hoping for but I'm still in a good place making solid progress. I started the week with final details and a bit of scribing to the turret. The scribing was to make room for a weld seam I plan to add a little later this week, along with detail welds around certain details so they don't look like they are just glued to the surface. I finished adding a few wires for the smoke dischargers and touched up the texture a little bit.

While I waited for a few things to dry and cure on the turret, I moved along to the hull. There are a few sink marks in places that needed filled and sanded out. I also have the underside finished but failed to take pictures of that one over the weekend.

Hope you all are having a great week at the bench, look forward to seeing more work from you all!

First weekend

I feel like I'm a little late to the show, but made a great start this weekend. On the bench is the Nut Cracker from Hassegawa. We start out with the turret, had a few seams to fill in and sand down. Built up a little bit of texture, which also helps bury what remains of any seam lines. I worked with the smoke dischargers a little bit, adding wires and some smoke grenades to a few of them. I also added armored covers where the cabling for the dischargers would enter the turret. In all a great weekend at the bench. I'll keep plugging away at the turret this week and update as I go.

Apologies for the photos being kind of out of order, I'll get it right next time!

Happy modeling!

Biography

I picked up scale modeling again about 10 years ago at the recommendation of my wife! I'm not sure if she realized the can of worms she opened at the time but it's been a very fulfilling journey with her support. I'm primarily an armor modeler, preferring 1/35 scale, but dabble with 1/48. I have been exploring the Sci Fi side of the hobby for a bit. Particularly I enjoy the Maschinen Kreiger IP.
