Scratchbuild Podracer Cockpit Update
The Podracer cockpit continues to evolve through a combination of scratch-built details and constant refinement of existing components.
During this stage, the front intake section received a major redesign. What originally started as a simple square housing was reshaped with angled lower corners and additional paneling to create a more dynamic and believable sci-fi appearance. A mesh grille was installed at the front, revealing an internal fan assembly and adding mechanical depth to the design.
Additional side panels and external piping were integrated into the cockpit body, helping to visually connect the pilot compartment with the larger engineering language of the engines. Small details such as surface textures, panel lines, and structural elements were also added to break up large flat areas and improve overall realism.
The cockpit seat remains a work in progress and currently features a custom harness system that will receive further refinement during the detailing and painting stages.
Although still in its raw construction phase, the cockpit is beginning to establish its own character and is gradually becoming a central visual element of the entire Podracer project.
Current Status:
- Front intake redesigned
- Mesh grille and internal fan installed
- Additional side paneling added
- External piping integrated
- Cockpit structure further refined
- Seat and harness system in development
- Surface detailing expanded
Next Steps:
Further cockpit detailing, structural refinement, and preparation for the final integration with the Podracer chassis.
