Working on the back unit.
My focus for this next stage was to attach the thruster binders to the back unit, as well as determine a way to attach the Nemo back unit to the Hyaku Shiki torso. I started by disassembling the back unit, removing the rectangular vents on the sides, and sanding down their attachment points. Next I drilled holes on each side to accommodate "arms" that would hold the binders. For said arms, I used the upper arm portion of a High Grade GFred kit with the shoulder brackets removed.
Next I turned my attention to attaching the back unit to the torso. I removed the pegs from the back unit and sanded the area flat. I intended to use magnets for the attachment mechanism, but after some trial and error I quickly realized that the magnets I have are not strong enough to support the weight of the binders and back unit combined. Instead I elected to glue the inner portion of the back unit to the torso, and will re-assemble the back unit after the painting stage.
Unfortunately I got very engrossed in my work and neglected to take intermediate pictures this time.
