Klaus, not Santa

Ah! Plans and their contact with reality :-P
I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted as a background and a good plan how to implement it.
I remembered working with pastels a few years back, and I really enjoyed the smooth finish and very nice transitions.
Well, maybe my memory was tainted (very pinkish I'd say), and my first try was absolutely not what I wanted.
So after a few tries I gave up and switched to oil paints - also not my standard go-to for backdrops, but hey, we grow with the challenge, eh?
It took me a while to get a hang of it and not smear everything into a dull taupe.
But I think it was worth the effort - it took me 3 days, then another 3 to let it all dry and now it is mounted behind the house.
I have to say, "I like it" :)
What do you think? was it worth it?
