Before the stars found their places before kingdoms rose and civilizations were born there was Aetherlune Kaleidos, the Cosmic Creator and Master Builder of the Old World.
Forged from the mysteries of the cosmos, Aetherlune wandered through the ancient void, gathering fragments of forgotten worlds, celestial energy, and the remnants of lost civilizations. With every piece, she shaped a world where magic, technology, and the stars existed as one.
The ancient ruins surrounding her are not merely remnants of the past they are her creations. Every stone, every pillar, and every sacred structure carries a fragment of her cosmic power.
As the Builder of the Old World, Aetherlune stands as the guardian of its forgotten history and the keeper of its celestial secrets. Her purple armor reflects the endless universe, while the golden cores upon her shoulders represent the ancient stars that gave life to the world she created.
But the Old World is not truly gone…
Its creator still remains.
Aetherlune Kaleidos Cosmic Creator.
Architect of the Old World.
Keeper of the Ancient Stars.
When the ruins awaken and the forgotten stars begin to shine again, the Creator will rise once more.
My wife was the inspiration behind Aetherlune Kaleido, especially the color scheme and the ancient cosmic-themed diorama. Her ideas helped bring the character and the world around her to life, making this build even more special to me.

For my penultimate submission to the GWCC 2026 competition, I wanted to create a miniature that felt like it had stepped straight out of a cosmic fantasy, an arcane warrior surrounded by the colours and energy of a twilight sky.
The foundation of the piece is built around Gaahleri Kaleido paints, using their colour-shifting properties to give the armour a sense of depth and movement. Twilight Purple and Space Blue form the primary palette, shifting beautifully depending on the angle of the light and giving the armour that otherworldly, star-filled appearance. I used Black and White to reinforce the deepest shadows and brightest points, while also helping the metallic and iridescent colours stand out.
For the metallic accents, I chose Champagne Gold and Scorch Gold. The warmer gold tones contrast against the cooler purples and blues, particularly around the armour trim, weapon, and focal details. This contrast was intentional as I wanted the gold to feel like concentrated magical energy breaking through the darkness of the armour.
The staff was treated as an extension of the character rather than simply an accessory. Its long silhouette helps frame the miniature, while the crystalline, cosmic colours tie it back into the armour. The turquoise energy element provides another small temperature shift and gives the eye a strong focal point.
The overall goal was to capture the feeling of magic at twilight with deep space colours, fading light, and warm celestial metal coming together on a single figure.

Before we hit this kit with its final color, it’s time to lay down some pre-shading! Adding those darker tones underneath helps create depth, definition, and a little extra drama once the main color goes on. Think of it as giving the kit its own built-in lighting before the real paint party starts. The shadows may look a little scary now, but trust the process! Once the preferred color is sprayed over it, those tones will start peeking through and give the finish more dimension. Pre-shading first, pretty colors later! Let’s see what this kit turns into!

Finally finished priming with Kaleido Gloss Black Primer! Look at that shine! So glossy, I almost started checking my hair in it. And this stuff? Not easy to remove! Once it sticks, it’s basically saying, “We live here now.” Next stop Grey primer for pre-shading! Time to add some depth, shadows, and hopefully avoid making a complete mess. One layer at a time… because apparently I enjoy making life difficult for a plastic model kits. #modelkits #30MFBuilds #KaleidoPaints #KaleidoPrimer #MangJePS # #TeamKabuo
