Completion

Well, she is complete. I had a lot of fun with this kit, and I am glad I was able to be a part of this competition.

Actual Progress

The little guys are all painted and sitting patiently. Now permanently trapped forever.

The simplicity of the build has allowed me to quickly glue everything together and now she is ready to go through the main painting stage. Where there are only 2 colours. So, this should go well.

Late New Beginnings

Obviously, this is not the high detailed King Tiger Tank kit I have been working on for the whole comp. I have been stumbling along with that kit for a bit unfortunately and I have hit the point where I know I won’t finish. I have spoken with the organisers, and they have agreed to allow me to start over. Obviously with a much smaller and simpler kit.

So let me introduce you to the Mitsubishi Ki-15. This little 1/72 scale prop plane is going to be what I submit. I know I don’t have much time but there is not a lot of components thankfully. I am excited for this and I recon I will turn out something good.

Decent Interior Progress

So, I have added in a bunch of the main interior area. I recon it is looking pretty good so far.

Seems Small But Large

Now all I have to show this week is the painted wheel struts and how they look in the tank. This does seem small progress. Because it is. However, there has been a lot to think about, and I think the next couple of weeks we will see a lot of quick progress. So, all we can do for now is be patient.

Simple Painting Session

This week, I worked on getting more interior detail pieces made. There were a couple of different colours needed for each of these pieces so I kept them off the tank so I could paint first. The colours look quite nice, and I am excited to putting it all together.

Painting the Inners

This week I have just been working on more construction of the internal details of the King Tiger. I also have done some simple spraying of those details as well. The red that the Germans used for these tanks are stunning, I love the shade.

Actual Progress

It is good to finally have decent progress. There are a lot of little details this kit includes and its amazing! I’m excited to keep moving forward.

Internals' Colour Pallet

Just a pretty simple week again. Will be ramping up my hours involved with this kit soon, but I wanted to get the colours for internals sorted before that. There are two main colours, ivory and oxidrot. Testing out different mixtures of Tamiya colours, I have landed on a mixture of XF-2 and XF-55 with an 8:1 ratio for ivory and XF-7 and XF-64 3:1 ratio for oxidrot.

Biography

I build military model kits. There is something about the engineering, the history, and the quiet focus of the work that keeps me at the bench. Each kit is a small chance to hold a piece of history in hand.
