Rocket Racoon Diorama - Final Submission

Here is my final work and I am quite happy with the result. It was quite a challenging project, a very large scale where the piece is 48cm tall in total.

I had some setbacks with the stability of the figure, as the effects were made solid, so they ended up being very heavy, but I managed to stabilize the piece to be able to assemble and disassemble it easily.

In each part of the project I was able to apply different techniques and effects.

On the base that represents a monster trying to swallow Rocket, I made the effect as if it were a metal carapace that protected all the mucous membrane of the mouth and gums. The idea of dirty and worn teeth over time was also done with a lot of wash techniques.

For the tentacles, I tried to blend an external color shift effect to simulate a shine and glitter effect due to saliva, and at the same time on the inside of the suction cups, a more organic and slimy appearance.

On Rocket's spaceship, I really enjoyed working with a colorshift effect using 3 metallic colors from the Kaleido line. Many metallic details were created using Gaahleri metallic markers, which greatly helped the process. The challenge of creating a vehicle with a smooth, glossy paint job was something I was apprehensive about, but using Kaleido paints allowed me to achieve the desired result on my first try.

Finally, Rocket's figure was painted ultra-realistically using Vallejo paints on the fur, and the shiny parts of the suit were painted using Kaleido paints to show an aggressive effect and depict the fury of the attack on the beast with its missiles.

Materials used throughout the process:

Airbrushes: Seeker and Mobius 03

Primer: Kaleido gloss and Vallejo Matte

Paints: Kaleido and Vallejo

Varnish: Kaleido gloss and Ak interactive matte

Printers: Anycubic M7 max, Elegoo Saturn and

Good luck everyone! =)

I finally finished the base of my diorama.

For the monster skin I used kaleido purple, Vallejo violet red and nocturnal reddish flesh.

For the monster armour I used 3 kaleido metallics: Zirconium black, gun metal and titanium alloy.

To paint I used my turboX mini with seeker 0.5 and Mobius 0.3 and brushes for details.
