Project Summary

For this project, I aim to transform an old Tamiya Tiger I kit into a battle worn tank set during the Battle of Kursk. Using parts from a donor kit (The photo-etch details) and a selection of 3D-printed components (made by yours truly), I hope to add a greater level of realism to the subject. The Tiger will be the center piece of a small diorama featuring a scratch-built thatched shepherd's hut that has unfortunately suffered some collateral damage during the fighting. My goal is to create a scene that captures a rare moment of calm behind the front line, with the crew carrying out maintenance and reloading ammunition before returning to action. Throughout the project I will be sharing regular updates, covering everything from construction and detailing through to painting, weathering and final presentation. I hope you enjoy following the journey, and let's see if I can get it finished before the deadline!

Kursk 43 WIP

A small update on the kursk project :

- Groundwork has been laid and grass applied, needs some paint and weathering but that will come later.

- Paintwork on the building has been started, again a world of weathering and details need adding.

- The thatch roof is underway, combing hemp fibres and making small sections ready for fitting! First time doing this, so we shall see how it goes!

- Finally the oak base trim has been added and stained, will be masked off soon for the final paint stages!

Still a long way to go, just gotta keep cooking! But in the meantime, happy modelling everybody!

Biography

Hi, I'm Elliott, the creator behind EJB Scale Art. My interest in scale modelling started as a child, spending countless hours building kits (quite roughly I must add). Like many people, I drifted away from the hobby for a number of years, but my passion for making never disappeared. After studying 3D Design at university, specialising in spatial & Interior design, I developed a range of skills in model making and scratch building that would later influence my approach to scale modelling. A few years ago, I returned to the hobby and quickly rediscovered the enjoyment of building, painting and weathering models. Today, through EJB Scale Art and my YouTube channel, I share my projects, techniques and experiences with fellow modellers, while continuing to challenge myself and learn something new with every build.
