Weathering the Fuel Tank!
I weathered the fuel tank! Since most of it will be hidden behind the outer cover, only the top part will actually be visible. But of course, I weathered the hidden areas too! 😁
On a real truck, I imagine the sides of the fuel tank would be protected by the outer cover, so instead of heavy paint chipping, they would probably be covered with layers of stubborn dirt and grime accumulated over time.
That’s the look I tried to recreate here! 😊👍

nemo box60 days ago@mike Thank you so much, Mike! I really wanted to capture the accumulated grime and fuel stains you would see on a working truck, so I’m glad it came across realistically! 😊👍

nemo box60 days ago@adamjusyk2 Thank you, Adam! 😊 It’s actually a combination of several simple weathering techniques rather than one special technique. I gradually built up layers of washes, stains, grime and fuel marks until it looked natural. It’s a bit difficult to explain the whole process in a short comment, but I filmed everything, so I’ll show it in detail in the final build video! 👍
