Iraqi T-55 1/48 - Final Submission
Here it is!
The final look of the Iraqi T-55. I gave my best with this model, and I'm actually quite satisfied with the final result. I hope you like it too!
The photos were taken with my phone (Poco X3), so they might not be super sharp, but we make do with what we have.
It's intended to represent an Iraqi T-55 recently abandoned by its crew for whatever reason as is often seen in photos from the Gulf War in Kuwait (1990-1991). I would have liked to make a small scenic base to help with the storytelling, but unfortunately I'm running out of time, and I think the tank looks pretty good on it's own anyway.
It's also the model on which I have done the most scratch building so far.
The only aftermarket parts I bought are the metal barrel, the extra machine-gun
ammo boxes, and the little PE plastic crate (which I broke and glued back at least 5 times...)
All the other added details were hand made from plastic or copper (as you can see in previous posts).
I'm sorry if I haven't posted a lot of updates, especially on the weathering, I was in a bit of a rush.
If you have any question about anything, don't hesitate to ask, I will try to answer them as best I can.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who followed, liked, and commented throughout the build, and good luck to all the contestants!

Adam Jusyk40 days agoWow, very impressive finish! I really liked whole your build. I'm suprised how did you took such amazing photos with phone. I have Poco X7 Pro, and I never achieved that good quality of photos of modelsd. So, I use Olympus E500 for photographing my models.

@adamjusyk2 Thanks! I use the "pro" mode of the camera app, it actually took me years to get the correct settings😅 , you have to try to find what works best with your setup. I use three Ikea lamps for the lighting and a sheet of white paper for the background. I also use focus stacking to get a better depth of field (I take multiple photos with different focus and stack them to get one image). After that, I mainly adjust the exposure and the white balance in photopea and this is what I get. It works alright, but I think I've reached the limits of my phone, and I'd really like to buy a camera. (I don't have the money 😭)
