Project Summary

This project is a 1/100 scale recreation of the RGM-96X Jesta Cannon from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, combining the MG RGM-96X Jesta, a full resin conversion kit, and the Type 89 Base Jabber into one complete presentation piece. Rather than approaching the build as a simple kit assembly or kitbash, my goal is to recreate the atmosphere and presence of a real special operations mobile suit unit as if it existed beyond animation and plastic model form. The project focuses on transforming the mechanical design into something that feels operational, cinematic, heavy, and alive. The Jesta platform has always represented precision, discipline, and tactical realism within the Gundam universe. By integrating the resin conversion system and the Base Jabber support platform, I wanted to elevate the mobile suit into a fully realized deployment configuration inspired directly by its role within Gundam Unicorn. My painting philosophy is heavily inspired by classical master painters such as Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Leonardo da Vinci, particularly their understanding of light, atmosphere, shadow, and volumetric form. Instead of relying only on traditional edge highlighting, I focus on how light naturally wraps around surfaces and defines mass, allowing the model to gain visual depth and presence from every angle. Through layered lacquer and acrylic work, volumetric highlighting, tonal modulation, metallic undertones, and carefully controlled surface transitions, the intention is to move away from the appearance of a traditional plastic model kit and instead create the illusion of a functional machine captured within a cinematic moment. Every section of the build is approached with attention to scale realism, visual weight, and material separation while preserving the original mechanical identity designed by the Gundam creators. The final presentation aims to showcase how Gunpla can evolve beyond assembly into a form of artistic interpretation and storytelling through paint, composition, and atmosphere. If time allows, the project may also expand into a full environmental diorama to further reinforce the narrative and operational setting surrounding the Jesta Cannon deployment unit (only if time allows it).

GWCC 2026 WEEKLY REPORT 08

As work continues on Project Εἰρήνη (Eiríni), attention is now shifting toward the next major stage of development:

defining the final identity of the Jesta Cannon and its battlefield role within the project narrative.

One of the primary objectives moving forward is to further emphasize the machine’s function as a long-range support unit. This includes evaluating potential modifications to the sensor systems, equipment layout, weapon configurations, and overall silhouette in order to create a stronger visual connection between the mobile suit and its intended mission profile.

Additional design are also being explored for the Jesta Cannon, focusing on:
- Additional mechanical separation and visual depth.

- Possible sensor and targeting equipment upgrades.

- Long-range engagement concepts.

- Improved integration between the mobile suit and support platform.

- Refinement of the overall visual storytelling behind Project Εἰρήνη (Eiríni).

At this stage, the focus remains on planning, evaluation, and determining which modifications best support the story being told through the build.

  @studio935 thank you, unfortunately I had to step down from the competition, wishing everyone the best! I will still finish this project at my own pace, it requires a lot of focusing and time, the resin conversion has so many issues, still workable but lots to fix

Biography

I grew up during a civil war as a child and witnessed firsthand what conflict can do to people through the eyes of innocence. Because of this, I do not believe in war, though I understand the painful reality that peace sometimes needs to be protected. I originally studied journalism with the hope of creating positive change through truth and communication. Today, I pursue that same purpose through art on plastic models. For me, Gunpla is more than a hobby. It is a form of storytelling through light, atmosphere, color, and mechanical design. Inspired by master painters such as Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Leonardo da Vinci, my goal is to move beyond the appearance of plastic and create machines that feel alive, cinematic, and emotionally present. Above all, I am a proud father of two boys, and one of my greatest hopes is to help leave behind a better world for them someday, even if only in a small way.
