We gave this competition everything we had, but the last few weeks got away from us. With two weeks left on the clock we had to move out of our apartment on short notice — which meant packing up the whole work area, printer and all. The new place had an electrical issue, so the printer couldn't run reliably. Our printed pieces made it out fine, but every tool, brush and paint got boxed up (and a closet unit collapsed on us, so a few of them are still somewhere in the pile we're re-sorting).
On top of that: two new full-time jobs. Vanve started hers last week, and Jubo starts tomorrow.
Even with the extra week, we just couldn't give the piece the finish it deserved. We're not abandoning it — we'll pick it back up once we're properly set up again and post the progress here.
In the meantime, enjoy this glorious photo of our chaos, and good luck to everyone competing. We can't wait to see what you all built.
P.S. If this runs again next year, we're in.

Talk about chaos management: we’re right in the middle of moving apartments this week, meaning half our tools, glue, and supplies are currently scattered across cardboard boxes.
Despite the madness, the printer delivered! We managed to get all sections of the massive base printed and dry-fitted together to check the alignment. You can see the final staging of the terrain in the photos—everything is lining up great.
What’s next:
Thanks for sticking with us through the print run and the apartment move! More soon. ✨

Progress is moving along fast on our competition entry! To give the scene the scale and depth it needed, we upscaled the entire base design and keyed it into four main quadrants to fit the print volume.
Naturally, no big print run goes completely without a twist—we ran out of our white spool midway through a tall rear section. Rather than scrap hours of printing, we hot-swapped to grey to finish out the top layers. It looks funky on the plate, but a solid coat of primer will bring everything together seamlessly.
Once the main base pieces and columns finished, we ran a rough assembly test on the counter (featuring a banana for scale) to verify tolerances and make sure the geometry lined up. During a quick fit test, we caught a half-assembly view over the printer's glass, where the chamber lighting crept up through the pieces a fun preview of how dynamic the shadows will look once painted.
Right now, our focus is on seam-filling, sanding, and surface prep for the terrain while the characters run on the printer. We can’t wait to get everything primed and start laying down color!

After a few rounds of trial, error, and fine-tuning, the printer is finally humming! The main display base is well underway and on track to wrap up tomorrow, so expect a few progress shots dropping over the weekend.
Coming up next week:
We are itching to break out the brushes and start painting, but we’re staying patient and trusting the process—at least for now! Stay tuned.

Hey all, it has been a journey. Life and competition have definitely been competing lol.
We have a short video of the characters being posed in a proxy diorama. The diorama is going to be edittd and adjusted for scale matching.
We wanted this to be a huge piece but time is running short, so we exploring doing a size reduction of the print by 3 to 4 inches. This would put the piece more at an action figure scale, but would be probably more feasible to print and llow painting time.
We are hoping to start printing next week.

Hey everyone! This week, we’d love to get a little community feedback on our latest progress. We’re currently posing and segmenting our Ardent Flame Naga for 3D printing, but we’re on the fence about weapon scaling! Her main weapon is a gatling gun with an under-barrel flamethrower. We’re definitely going for an oversized look, but we can't decide how oversized it should be. Image 1: The largest, most heroic version. Image 2: A slightly scaled-down take. Which one do you think looks better? Drop your thoughts in the comments below—we’ll be going with the community favorite!

This week we are doing our final posing of the drake character using our 3D tools to segment sections and place them in dynamic areas that will accentuate the final piece. This also will allow us to create the areas for dove tailing the segments we will print in pieces towards final assembly. Seen here we removed the Pauldron's and backpack to show the posing adjustments from last week.

This week we've made great progress on the drake sculpt! While Vanve has been out of town, I've been focusing on adding the hard-surface elements to her sculpt and testing out the new Dovetail plugin for Blender to create clean, reliable attachment points for the model once we begin 3D printing.
We're also continuing to refine the poses and finalize the overall scene, and it's all starting to come together. Looking forward to sharing those updates and showing the next stage of the project with everyone next week!

The Raven Drake is nearly ready to leave the digital realm.
We are putting the final touches on his sculpt this week and print preparation begins next week — breaking him into segments, orienting parts, and getting everything print-ready on the P2S.
Seeing him take shape in 3D after starting from a concept sketch a few weeks ago is one of those moments that reminds us why we do this. The details are coming together in ways that exceeded even our own expectations.
Stay tuned — physical prints incoming. The Drake is almost real.

This week we were doing a lot of reviewing our design and scoping the layout of our diorama. We will be doing an elevation like this, although these are not final poses. Looking for any feedback that can assist our efforts as we finalize modeling this month and start the printing process.
