Project Summary

Our project is an original diorama depicting a mythological battle reimagined through a Grimdark space lens. Two original characters stand at the center: a Naga Medusa reborn as a warrior of The Order of the Ashen Flame, and a Black Dragon cast as a warrior of The Umbral Talon humanoid in armor — locked in combat in a scene built entirely from our own concept work. The piece will be taken from digital sculpt to physical reality using Blender 3D design software, FDM printing, and hands-on fabrication including assembly, gap filling, and surface preparation. The final stage will bring it to life through a full airbrush and hand-paint treatment, with the goal of delivering a display-quality finished piece that reflects both the epic scale of the concept and the craft behind every detail.

Posing the Sculpt

This week we are doing our final posing of the drake character using our 3D tools to segment sections and place them in dynamic areas that will accentuate the final piece. This also will allow us to create the areas for dove tailing the segments we will print in pieces towards final assembly. Seen here we removed the Pauldron's and backpack to show the posing adjustments from last week.

Biography

We are a husband and wife team from Florida parents to a spirited three year old and creative partners for over 20 years, having met in college and never stopped collaborating since. Between us, we cover a lot of ground. My wife drives the artistic vision, the eye for detail, and the creative instincts behind every concept. I handle the technical side of 3D pipelines, tools development, programming, and storytelling structure. Our strengths genuinely complement each other, and the result is always something neither of us could have made alone. This competition is a new chapter for us. Dragon Hoard Collectables is our way of stepping into the light, sharing the process, connecting with a global maker community, and letting the work speak for itself. We're excited to be here, and even more excited to see what everyone else is building.
