Slann Starmaster - Final Entry

Final submission. Done. Finished. No more “just one tiny detail”.

What started as an idea somehow turned into an entire little world full of plants, creatures, magic, chaos and probably far too many details.

I’ve painted it, rebuilt it, changed my mind several times and definitely spent way too long staring at it from every possible angle.

But now the brush is down. My competition piece is officially finished.

Let’s see where this adventure ends. 🤞

A view of the miniature diorama. The plinth still needs a matt finish all round, and then it’ll probably be finished. What do you think?

It’s time to sort out the final details. I’ve attached copper wire to the rod and incorporated it into the base. Using resin, I’ve tried to simulate splashing water, from which new life emerges. Once the fern and ivy have dried, they’ll be given a light coat of paint. Then everything will be sealed and the base cleaned. The platform has been given various tufts and a covering of base material from Base X (Black Forest/Frost Rocks).

Today I’ve been working on the finer points and details; I love hiding little surprises in my dioramas.

Today I carried on painting the base; the base colours are in place, so I can move on to the details, and I still need to create a smooth transition to the lower section.

I’m currently working on finishing the base and the details. I’m thinking of hiding a little "Schichtsalat" Easter egg... Still a work in progress, but every painting session brings it a little closer to the vision I had in mind. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference.

I masked off the base again after shaping the platform with Milliput. The final parts have been fitted and now need to be painted.

I carried on working on the base. It was enlarged overall, the platform was set on cork and covered with AK Vulcano. The base was painted using an airbrush. The ‘yellow star’ will be finished off later and the base will then be given a final coat of paint.

The main character in the video, which is almost finished. The staff and orb still need some finishing touches with the airbrush.

Today I started on the main character, just for a bit of a change and to work out my colour scheme for the whole model a bit more.
