Today I carried on painting the base; the base colours are in place, so I can move on to the details, and I still need to create a smooth transition to the lower section.

@M_S_Staues Thanks for your feedback; I’ve already given that some thought. Perhaps it will end up with a glossy finish after all; if it doesn’t work, I can always touch it up if necessary.
