Polish Crew & Aftermarket Stowage Completed ๐Ÿช–๐ŸŽ’๐ŸŽจ

July 25, 2026. I focused on completing the K2 driver figure and the aftermarket stowage. For the driver's skin tones, I started with AK11603 Human Flesh Tone, then applied a subtle glaze of Vallejo Light Rust Wash (74.505) to match the commander.

The eyes were painted with Vallejo Saddle Brown (70.940). For the helmet, I used a mix of Vallejo Black Grey (70.862) and Italeri Flat Rubber (4861AP), before sealing everything with AK 183 Ultra Matte Varnish.

The tanker suit began with a zenithal base, airbrushing Tamiya LP-60 NATO Black followed by a white zenithal spray to establish highlights and shadows. I then applied AK11144 Emerald Green to replicate the distinctive Polish uniform tint, adding highlights with white and shading with Vallejo Black Grey. Small details, including the Polish flag patch, were painted with Vallejo White and Flat Red, while the rank insignia was finished with Mr Hobby 320 Dark Green.

After applying a pin wash, I realised the original green was far too vibrant, making the figure resemble a Warhammer 40K miniature rather than modern military equipment. To achieve a more realistic appearance, I applied several thin glazes of Vallejo USAF Olive Drab (71.016), followed by a light blend of the original AK Emerald Green to smooth the transitions while matching reference photos.

To finish the driver, I scratch-built the missing headset microphone from 0.2 mm lead wire. Since the kit lacks interior seat detail, I also fabricated a small styrofoam support inside the hull to position the figure at the correct operating height.

For the aftermarket resin stowage roll, I layered Vallejo Black Grey, Vallejo White, and USAF Olive Drab before applying Vallejo Light Rust Wash and Tamiya Black Panel Line Accent. I initially painted the strap buckles with a 1 mm Liquid Chrome pen, but the mirror-like finish looked unrealistic for modern combat equipment. I experimented with toning them down using Light Rust Wash, but the result still appeared too reflective.

In the end, I repainted the buckles with USAF Olive Drab and darker tones to replicate the subdued blackened steel finish commonly seen on modern NATO equipment.

Both the figures and the aftermarket stowage received a final coat of AK 183 Ultra Matte Varnish. With the crew and accessories now complete and colour-matched, I'm ready to move on to painting the main hull ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽจ
