Small Update - Idea for a Small Diorama for the K2 🛤🤔
August 2, 2026. In today’s quick update, I’ve been doing some diorama planning! A few posts back, someone asked if my K2 would have a diorama base. I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and since this is for the GWCC, I really want to push myself and try new things, just like I did with the figures. I’ve never built a proper diorama for any of my tanks before, but there’s a first time for everything!
few posts back I mentioned the K2 is primed and ready on the workbench for painting, and I hope to start airbrushing tomorrow, if all goes to plan. The days are flying by but I'm still working away on this project. To map out my ideas, I drew some rough sketches and used an AI layout tool to clean them up so they’d be easier to read for this build log. 😅
For materials, I did some research and picked up a tub of Red Devil Onetime Lightweight Filler from my local hardware store. I learned that mixing it with PVA glue works really well. It keeps the filler workable for longer so it doesn’t dry too quickly, giving me more time to shape the terrain on the foam and even press realistic track marks into the mud. For the base frame, I’m planning to use wood, but if I can’t source any locally, I’ll fall back on high-density foam.
I’m also planning to add fallen leaf litter to the damp forest terrain to help bring the scene to life. Everything is still in the planning stage currently

Cristian Carlone85 days agoNice planning and ideas. Is the Red David a sort of plaster for filling out holes in walls?

@cristiancarlone Thanks, haha yea the Red Devil is basically a paste for filling out holes in walls which drys fast by itself, I Found it in my local hardware store 😁

@modelowystartpl, thank you for the clarification. I use a similar product for my dioramas and scenes but never thought of mixing it with pva glue for more durability in sculpting. Thank you for a great tip! Happy Sunday.

@cristiancarlone No problem! I only recently learned the PVA glue trick myself. I'm not sure every paste needs it, but this one dries fast, so PVA glue definitely will help. Here, Happy Sunday to you too!
