Update #17 - The Interior

With the chassis finished, next job was the interior! The front seats included with the kit are the original Toyota 86 ones. Since this is a modified car, I decided that a set of sportier seats would look more appropriate! So I chose a set of TRD racing resin seats to replace the originals.

Each part was cleaned and prepared, followed by airbrushing using the Kaleido grey primer. Then each part was airbrushed in the desired color. Some pieces needed more than one color, so these were masked accordingly. This was the first ever interior where I used just Kaleido paints to color everything 🙂

Finally, the interior floor and rear parcel shelf were covered with flocking to make them more realistic.

Looking great, we need for some mfgr. to come up with some flocking that does not look like 2" long shag carpet at scale. Automotive carpet is short , short woven to stop any entanglements. Flocking particles should be 0.001 mm.

@gekoch Thank you for your feedback. I have different flocking powder from various manufacturers and all of them look the same unfortunately. In this build I used the grey and dark grey, both from different manufacturers. I also applied them through a tea strainer to hold the bigger pieces from falling, but it's not fine enough for car carpets! In reality, it looks less out of scale. The lightning has made the effect look more dramatic 🙂

@karlscalemodeling Still looks fantastic, it is the mfgr.'s I want to read the text and maybe come up with a new product and not rely on a 60 year old product.
