Update 17: That coulda been bad xD

So I will admit, I am fairly new when it comes to lacquers. I'm still figuring new things out and improving, and even if some of those mistakes are hard lessons, they're always worth learning from.

In the 3rd and 4th image you can see an awful dusting that was happening on my final Matte coat. I honestly thought I was gonna have to bin the head and torso and print a new set. So I reached out to the Gunpla Reddit to see if I could get some advice. Far far more people then I figured basically immediately started giving me a hand, and running through potential things that could have caused this. And ultimately the culprit was me just, not thinning my paints enough, and the paint would dry before it hit the kit, causing that powder buildup. Ultimately, I think I'm under thinning *all* my lacquers now seeing how they're supposed to spray and interact with the parts.
Another person on there said I could probably salvage the torso and head if I went back over with a gloss coat to smooth things out, and then hit it again with a (properly thinned) Matte coat. And this saved me xD
It's not 100% and I can still see some spots where there was dusting, but I think it's more then good enough for me personally.

Anyway! The Torso and the head are done I think. I also got the leg joints all perfect, and you can see in the final pic the range of motion I have with them. This is about the same as the High Grade as that's what I modeled most of the physical joints around on this kit~

With that, all the base frame sub assemblies are base coated, and awaiting waterslides.

Nice work, what finish did you use? Matte sometimes just don't work right and got that icing

@msstaues Thanks! I like GaiaNotes Ex-Flat Clear (EX-04) (and GaiaNotes in general) I just needed to thin it properly~

I love the texture of the dark blue/grey , feels like ablative protective coating armor.

@faulk Yeah I don't think I'll ever use acrylics on a kit again xD
