Upgrading the W16 Engine

Tonight was all about taking apart the Veyron’s engine bay.

As you can see, the original engine block is rather modestly detailed, especially compared to the rest of the car. So instead of simply repainting it, I decided to take things a step further.

I found a highly detailed CAD model of the Bugatti W16 engine and decided to use it to upgrade the existing engine block.

The next challenge is to break the 3D model down into individual components, scale everything correctly to 1:18, and adapt the new parts to fit the existing AUTOart engine.

There’s still a lot of work ahead: separating the parts, scaling them, test fitting and 3D printing. But the result should be a much more detailed and realistic W16 engine.
