Greasy Fifth Wheel Completed!
I’ve finished weathering the fifth wheel!
Since this part is constantly in contact with the trailer, I wanted to recreate the look of thick grease that has been pressed, dragged, and spread around by repeated use.
I added some rough, built-up grease around the outer areas, while keeping the center smoother and slightly glossy to show the areas where the trailer has been rubbing against it.
It was tempting to add a little more weathering, but I think this is the right point to stop before overdoing it! 😄

@gekoch Thank you so much!! I'm really happy to hear that, especially since you've seen real 5th wheels! 😊 Basically, I mixed several thick enamel paints together, then added some pigments and oil paints. I applied and blended everything with a brush to create the greasy effect.
